Parts Issues/Returns - scan parts that are issued and returned using an Intermec CK31. The issues and return transactions are sent to the server and a business logic component is called that creates a file for the mainframe, queues an FTP job to send the file, sends an email to notify specified recipients of the transactions, and updates inventory levels.
Physical Inventory - scan parts during a physical inventory count. The collected data is sent to the server and is used by several web pages to complete the physical inventory process by accomplishing any edits to the counts, an exported list of counted items that can be sent to other processes, and a reconcile process that updates final inventory counts.

Airgas has numerous locations, which are all tied to the server hosting the SQL Server via VPN. Via a cradle each device is connected to a local office PC with an ActiveSync connection. The device, running an ITScriptNet OMNI client, makes a connection to the host server running the ITScriptNet OMNI communication utility. The data is stored directly to the SQL Server database.
