Honeywell has announced the latest addition to its Dolphin line of Mobile Computers, the Dolphin 6100.  This device is designed for retail and light industrial applications.  It is similar in size to the Dolphin 7600, but lighter and thinner.  Like all Dolphin devices, the 6100 supports the Adaptus imager for scanning linear or 2-D barcode, as well as capturing images.

We have a 6100 in-house and we have already developed an ITScriptNet client for it.  We will release this client in conjunction with the release of the 6100 in the next few weeks.  Honeywell indicates that the device will start shipping in August.

Raco has a nice application note on their blog about an Asset Tracking application for a University Marching Band using an ITScriptNet Solution Pack.  This application uses the Check In / Check Out Solution Pack to track who has each uniform piece.

Two years ago, we discussed that the US Census Bereau was going to take the 2010 census with a Windows Mobile device made by HTC.  Then, last year it appeared that the project was going to be scrapped.  Not so fast - it looks like the project is still on track, and that the devices really exist.  Sprint has announced that they are the exclusive mobile data provider, and details of the device can be found here.  Will we see census workers at our doors with these devices next year?  Maybe so!
